I'd love the Schanze and Karoviertel. You still can feel the alternative spirit in this area. although it's gentrification moves on it's still a cosy place to be in the morning as in the evening. get a coffee and watch what's going on and enjoy....More

Lots of special eateries and cool places. But also overcrowded, have been here multiple times and never found a seat somewhere in the evening. Take-away food during the day possibly though.

The Schanzenviertel is located close to the B-halls of the Hamburger fairground and is the place to stay when you work at a show over there and don't want to stay in a hotel. It's a true multi-kulfi neighbourhood with lots of bars and places...More

Tons of restaurants and bars, hundreds of people on the streets. The most controversial part of town these days. Go and take a look.

Very alternative area in Hamburg, easy to find and good nightlife. Would definitely recommend it to tourists who want to see another side of Hamburg. The Schanzenviertel is better than the Reeperbahn!

Cool bohemian part of town. With graffiti on the walls. More art than tags. Also loads of over priced hip clothing shops. There was a pretty good street band playing and people seemed friendly. Very bohemian but gentrifying very quickly. See it before this looses...More
