Built as a triumphal arch in the eighteenth century, the gate has a large central Roman arch flanked by a small pedestrian arch on each side. The walls of the gate are decorated by friezes while the top is decorated with beautiful sculptures.
i have always recognized the Brandenburg gate with Berlin opened in 1791 and did not realize that Potsdam had its own gate.. Impressive near the shopping area completed in 1770 as a neo classical arch.making it older than its Berlin Cousin .
