The Bode Museum stands on a point of Museum Island. It was worth a visit if only for the building, domed and handsomely neoclassical, making it an ideal venue for Medieval through late 18th Century sculpture. The temporary exhibit of Sub-Saharan African art was small...More

On visiting museum island we did the Bode first ,there is a very interesting exhibition of African statues and masks along with Christian ones .These exhibits are well thought out and well documented. Upstairs the range of statues is amazing with some remarkable sculpting on...More

There are even some lovely paintings including a mediaeval copy of the Van Der Weyden deposition in the Prado. Highlights: the Tilman Riemannschneider St Matthew and Noli me Tangere; the Rood from Saxony; the Christ entering into Jerusalem (the donkey is new alas); a beautiful...More

In this part of Berlin, there is so much to see, and this gallery isn’t even listed on most maps. it is however absolutely stunning. Beautiful architecture, decently priced hot drinks and cakes. A lovely spot for a tea even without seeing the mueseum!!

If not (and familiarity breeds contempt) the architecture, double dome structure and staircases are worth a look - in this case a 20 minute visit will do the job. Worthwhile on a multiple museum ticket.

This building is a MUST SEE: the two halls at the entrance and on the other side of the axis are impressive. Some of the exhibition is interesting but in our view their is too much sacred art. We liked the exhibition in the 'Altes...More

I find that's the best way to summarise the experience. Sure, it had a lot of great pieces but the museums layout made it confusing to just follow it through, always having to Come back to room to find the right way because it that...More

Certainly one of the biggest collection of ancient sculpture in the world, if not the biggest (mainly of Italian and Germain origin). Berlin’s Münzkabinett might be the most important numismatic collections in the world, with over half a million objects. The building itself is beautiful...More

The Bode is I think, the most beautiful of the buildings on Museum Island and home to the city's sculpture collection as well as a world-class collection of coins (not really my thing). This is a major collection featuring as it does works by the...More

The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights
like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum
Island. The central location makes this one of the
city's most expensive places to live. It is here the
oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence
of some significant transformations, as well. The
gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets
between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given

Historical sculpture and painting, the majority of which is Germanic. Focus on Gothic wood carvings, very beautiful. The renaissance and other periods are covered, it is all exceptional examples of the period.
