Went on a very hot day, in the middle of the afternoon. Took awhile to find a spot next to the lake, but had an enjoyable walked around as we tried. Easily accessible from two S-Bahn stations. A restaurant is on site too.

Unbelievably for how beautiful it is, this place couldn't be easier to get to from the city centre. It took about 20 minutes to arrive here from Oriensburger Stasse (direct and regular trains, about €15 for two day tickets) and the station is just across...More

This is a wonderful place for kids in winter. Sometimes it is dangerous but this is a real nature.

Schlachtensee has always been my favourite spot in Berlin, and I always try and make it out there when I visit... usually for a swim (crystal clear water, beautiful surroundings, and usually not *too* cold) and at least a walk in the colder months! Now...More

Schlachtensee is easily reachable from the S1 (though it's a bit of a walk from the U3 Krumme Lanke stop - take the S-Bahn!). The Biergarten at the S1 entrance is really nice and the lake is very accessible with a mostly sandy bottom (for...More

Great place to take a day trip if you are looking to get out of the city and see some green. S-bahn drops you off about 15 minute walk from the "beach" areas which are really grassy knolls leading up to the lake. Bring a...More

It's usually packed with teenagers, as it is easily accessible by Subway, and free. Many little access points to the water and a few beaches. Water is very clean. No dogs allowed.

My parents and I did the approximately 7km walk all the way around the water, then sat down for beer and Gulasch soup. Beautiful, calm walk outside of the big city.
