Guided tours of the fortress give you a good feel for the architecture and opulence of the age in Wurzburg.

I think this is the main atraction of this town. Is a big fortress with nice views of the city. It also have a museum inside. Cool to walk around and down to the old bridge across cubled stones.

Always worth a visit. Even without paying for a ticket, there’s plenty to see. Views are impressive, and fortress is interesting.

A must for tourists. Nearly anybody visiting Würzburg comes here. Best view over the town. In addition you can catch a guided tour through the castle. There is a beergarden and a restaurant as well upon this hill and a big museum for franconian culture....More

It is a bit of an effort to climb up the stairs to the get to the castle, but it is very worth it. Not only is the castle itself beautifully maintained, it also occupies a commanding position over the city, with great views.

If you're in Wurzburg, you can't help but notice the fortress Marienburg looming over the city.....day and night. If you're able to handle a mild incline, I'd suggest you walk thru the vineyards to visit the fortress.....day or night.

Marienburg Fortress located on top of a slope on the left hand side of Main River. Travelers needed to walk up the slope, for around 30 minutes, in order to have nice views over the whole town and the river.

Climbing the hill is a lot of work, maybe better to catch a bus or taxi uphill and walk back to town downhill.

This answer may be a little late however, I cannot remember the cost of entry but it is not that expensive maybe 10 - 12 euros. We walked up and found it strenuous but the views were wonderful. I think the town generally... More
