We parked the car at the west part of Rothenburg. This area is far from the tourists, was very quiet. Soon as we entered the gate, we saw this church. It was almost closed so we only got a glimpse of the altar.

Sadly during the winter time, this magnificent church is only open on the weekends. It is half church and half battlement and is part of the city's defenses. From the inside of the outside (hope that makes sense), it looks like a church and you...More

The church was built by the shepherds of the town for their patron saint. It is actually incorporated into the castle fortifications. The museum entry is very reasonable and well worth it. The altar is beautiful and there is a section of casemates under the...More

A peaceful place .We spent a good 30 minutes just sitting inside and regaining our energy . It happened to be a very hot summer day when we were in Rottenburg.

Its not a cathedral, but it is a wonderful church to visit. Make sure you peak at the paintings BEHIND the alter panels too.

Don't miss this. For a small entrance fee you get to go into the church, caves underneath, city walls and a small museum. It's in an idyllic setting with a nice area outside where you can sit and watch the world go by, but make...More
