Go in the evening and there is no line and you can take your sweet time. All the busses show up about 9:30 and they come all day..so take in the castle towards the evening. Then have dinner on your way out.

We purchased the ticket which includes the Neuschwanstein castle, the Hohenschwangau castle and the kings Museum. They are all in the same area, walking distance, but you need comfortable shoes, as you have to hike a bit between them. If you do not reserve your...More

We booked our tour time online (must do at least 2 days ahead), which made navigating the ticket line MUCH faster! It takes quite awhile to walk up to the castle, but it’s worth it! We learned a lot of its history on the tour,...More

This tour is a TOTAL Waste of time. The two castles you see are very close together and the stop in Oberammergau allows for only about 20-30 min to see the town. We also agree with the previous post about the van. There was nothing...More

We strongly endorse our guide from Radius Tours in Munich (Dan). He was charming and very informative during the bus ride to and from Munich. But the castles tours are conducted separately. The castle is in a beautiful setting. The castle art and decor is...More

We went to the oh-so-famous Neuschwanstein castle and got a ticket for a tour with only a 2-hour wait. I was only in line about 15 minutes with at least 50 people ahead of me. There are 60 visitors in each tour group and tours...More

Hello I planning to visit Neuschwanstein in second week of October, I saw the below information on the website Renovation work on the gate Due to renovation work, the east facade of the gatehouse and the south tower of the gatehouse are still covered in scaffolding until the autumn of this year. At the same time, the retaining wall of the Neuschwansteinstraße in the area below the square tower will be redeveloped as far as the gate construction this year, and will therefore remain scaffolded until the end of the year. Access to the lock and the management operation are not affected. Hiking trail closed The trail through the Pöllatschlucht is because of falling rocks up to More disabled . I want to make sure is this mean that the bridge where I can take a good view of the castle is closed ? What's the meaning of "trail through the pöllatschlucht " what is the pöllatschlucht? Do you have photos of the castle with the scaffolding covered? Can I hike in the mountains around the castle? Is the locker available if I will not take the tour ? And How much is it ?

Yes, just no photos inside, you can also photo the stairs and courtyard featured in "Chitty etc". The classic view from the metal bridge is a 20min walk each way from the bus drop off.
