The view up to the castle is wonderful. It's a nice walk up to it or you can take a horse drawn carriage if you don't want the 20 minute uphill walk. View not quite as impressive from the top but still worth a look....More

This place is amazing with the castles being so beautiful that they seem quite surreal. Took the horse & cart up the hill (or you can walk) to the castle. Unfortunately there was a small section undergoing restoration, but this still didn’t take away from...More

The money is not worth the tour. Each tour group had at least a 100 people on it and a group departed every 5 min. It was madness. Backpacks were allowed but had to carried on the front. Each room you spent the minimum amount...More

The castles of Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau are beautiful and the rooms we were allowed to see were generally interesting. But the popularity of these attractions mean that the tours are expensive for what you get. What you get is a great deal of queuing and...More

Interesting but on 23 Dec every traveller in Bavaria appeared to be here. The H castle tour had a smaller group and was slightly less rushed tour but the N castle tour group was way too big for the rooms visited and is a constant...More

It’s a gorgeous and fun 40 minutes walk from the ticket center to the castle. The tour is 45 minutes and includes handheld audio. Both parents and 7 year old kids enjoyed the tour. Now we know where Walt Disney dreams come from.

Caveat: we went with toddlers. This was disappointing. (1) tickets were 1 hour later than we had requested, and that was not clear until we received them at the ticket stand. (2) the shuttle ride to the famous bridge was closed (due to ice, no...More

Yes, just no photos inside, you can also photo the stairs and courtyard featured in "Chitty etc". The classic view from the metal bridge is a 20min walk each way from the bus drop off.
