We witnessed a true medieval city untouched by World War II bombing and rich in architectural splendor. Regensburg is one of Germany’s best preserved cities and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. With a local guide provided by our Viking Cruise hosts we set out on...More

What a beautiful city! We enjoyed just walking around with our baby in the stroller, walking down little alley ways, getting “lost” and coming across some of the most beautiful sights. It’s wonderful to see all the landmarks but do yourself a favour a allocate...More

Regensburg is a fantastic city to visit. It escaped being heavily damaged in WWII, and the beautiful medieval downtown is mostly still there. It's not as big as more well-known cities like Munich, and very authentic. Even just wandering the cobblestoned streets is a lovely...More

Probably the biggest old town I have seen. According to something I read, more than 1500 buildings. Very nice! Many little streets that take to surprising places. Plenty of places to eat and drink around as well. Pity it was cold. I could spend days...More

Regensburg has got to be one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. No matter how many times you go, you'll always see something you missed on the last visit. Definitely worth a few days to explore when you're in the area.

Regensburg is one of those little hidden gems, which nobody knows about. Its well preserved old town is charming, especially during Christmas season. All shops with traditional decorations, and festive lights between old historical buildings, made for exploring. Highly recommended as a stop during travels.

We celebrated the Holidays with recently transferred family in Regensburg. As the old Nike tagline said "Just do it". An Ancient town with the Danube and Cathedral as backdrops. The Thurn & Taxis Christmas Market was the best of a dozen or so in Europe...More
