Really well cared for Castle in a prime position. We didn’t have time to tour however being able to walk around the extensive courtyards and explore on our own was great. Worth a look.

A very old fortress located on a hill now converted into a museum and hostel. A restaurant also available. The view from this site is great. It overlooks the town of old passau and we can also see where the 3 rivers meet. Lovely place

Well l worth the walk across the Danube River and the long walk up the hill. We are 75 years old and made the trip. The museum was closed in mid-December when we visited but the views are outstanding. We recommend the Oberhaus trek.

Three rivers meet in Passau and the Danube continues on. From the Oberhaus you can see all three rivers and overlook the city of Passau. It’s an uphill walk but not hard if you are in shape at all. Well worth the view at the...More

On the northern banks of the Danube sits this impressive 13th century fortress and castle. For most of its historic time, it was the stronghold of the Bishop of Passau. Later it became part of the Hapsburg empire but always served as a main focus...More
