    It was a nice museum.
It was a small local museum. It didn’t have a lot of English. I think only one section had some. I just use Google translate when I don’t know. It works great on menus, museum placards. If I didn’t have that, it may not of been as good. It had about 3–4 different sections with a lot of local history.

    Surprisingly great visit
This was a great stop!! Do not miss it. The excellent gentleman that checked us in let us know about the restoration going on and the lack of some English written descriptions. None the less, we loved it. Beautiful rooms and ceilings. Some fun audio stations in English. After we went through it, my wife and I just felt like we really understood life in Nuremberg from a time long ago, a lot better. Perfect! Not only that, but the amazing gentleman that checked us in asked us if we had been to any place else that day and we said yes, we had gone to Albrecht Durer's home. So, he told us up with an all day pass, that got us in to this museum for half price and then we went over to the incredible top museum for free!!! Seriously, you should check out that museum if you have time. Even if you're just so so on seeing toys. The doll houses and vintage items there are definitely worth seeing.

    Interesting museum, cheap entrance
Due to the renovation of the museum, several floors were closed, so we probably didn't get as much out of our visit as we would have otherwise. To the museum's credit, it must be said that we were made aware of this at the ticket sale by a very competent and helpful gentleman. But we got an impression of Nuremberg in earlier centuries.

    Cool Museum
This was a pretty cool museum. The written information is in German and their audio guide is being upgraded so we couldn't get an information in English. It was still really interesting to see the interiors of various rooms. One room had a display of rotating photos where it showed a photo of an area in the old town pre-WWII, then a photo of the same place in 1945, then a photo of the modern city in the same area. It really showed how much beautiful architecture was lost in 1944-45.

The Stadtmuseum (City Museum) im Fembo-Haus is the only remaining large merchant's house from the late Renaissance. The Museum is located in the house of the wealthy merchant Georg Christoph Franz Fembo, built between 1591 and 1596 and overlooking Burgstrasse (literally, the Town Street) and the Rathaus (the Town Hall and seat of the local government). The Museum is organized on four levels. Visitors take an elevator to the top floor to see a huge model of the city as it existed in medieval times. The next floor down is devoted to (1) the crafts and manufactures that drove the city's trade economy from the Middle Ages through industrialization and (2) the organization and governance of society during that period. That society had multiple social strata (patricians, merchants, tradesmen, and unskilled laborers), of which only the patricians had any say in what happened in the city. The exhibits on that floor also detailed the training process of apprentices (3 to 4 years), journeyers (1 to 2 years), and masters (requiring application fees and the production of a masterwork). The lower floors were devoted to
• The daily family and social life that the residents of the house led,
• The local arts and musical personae and groups of the 18th and 19th centuries, and
• Gardens (a rare luxury and a display of wealth and status).

The Fembo haus, gives a great introduction to Nuremberg. The architecture is well preserved, it is the only house of its kind, that remains in Nuremberg. We enjoyed the musem, which we would say is a must see in Nuremburg. The reception hall with the elaborate carved plaster ceiling is one of a kind! For English speaking visitors, we’d recommend that you definitely take the included audio guide, as the signage in the museum is in German.

We went here on our first day in Nuremberg and it was very helpful to get an overview of the important themes and people related to the city. The free audioguide was good and not too dry - you could listen to just the basics or delve into more detail depending on your interests. All in all, a worthwhile stop.
If you are pressed for time, there is a very good exhibition on the ground floor that provides a sort of "express version" of the highlights of the museum, although you obviously miss out on seeing the historic rooms of the house.

Understand the history of the town, well worth a couple of hours. The only sad part is some of the historic information relating to why the town was bombed during WW2.

Original audio tour, interesting info. Impressive to see that so many inventions originate in Nuremberg. An amazing sculptured ceiling at one room, never seen something alike.

This excellent history museum is in the center of the altstadt. You start at the top with a presentation on the history of Nuremberg, and then descend through the years. Included audio guide is good.

City Museum at Fembo House is opened every day except Monday. It is part of the Nurnberg card or you have to purchase a ticket (EUR 6 for normal price). To get there to best solution is U-Bahn. (U1/ U11: Lorenzkirche stop, take exit "Hauptmarkt")
This museum is the best place to learn about Nuremberg's history. Lot of nice and original pieces, collection of paintings, audio plays and lot of information about the city. How it grows during the medieval period until nowdays.
Highly recommended as very didactic and instructive.

How can anyone visit Nuremburg without learning a little of its history? This is the place to start. The visit begins with a very clever multi-media introduction, on the top floor and if you follow your audio guide, which is included in the 6 Euro entrance fee, you move down through this magnificent house, to a commentary which is both very personal and very informative. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit, learned a tremendous amount about the city and would also like to thank the lovely lady, Renate, who welcomed us at reception and set the tone for the whole experience.
