With terrific views and awesome hiking trails everywhere. Wish I had a week to just walk around and explore this area. There is a beer garden with food about 2 miles down the road from the castle. Thank god it has bus service back to...More

Go past the castle for a 15 minute walk uphill to the gorge/bridge. Great area for pics. Tour groups come barreling in, shove individuals around, get their pics and leave, so we just waited them out. We stayed on the bridge about 30 minutes taking...More

Having time before entering the Neuschwanstein castle, it is really worth climbing for another 15 minutes up to the Bridget to enjoy and take picture of the castle. This is probably the best site to take pictures.

I think it's very important you understand this is the hiking trail, NOT the bridge. As you are walking up to the castle you will see a sign for the Gorge. From the main trail you can see a good spot to take a picture...More

Mary’s Bridge over Poellat Gorge is arguably the best location from which to view Neuschwanstein Castle. You cannot take a bad picture from this viewing spot—every shot comes out picturesque and perfect. If you cannot get into the castle itself, the view from here is...More

Visited by accident via RIVIERA TRAVEL's Neuschwanstein excursion. As others have said, it's worth the extra 15 minutes uphill slog from the castle, not only for castle photos, but also to see the view from the top of the Poellat river gorge. It took me...More

The best place to get a great photo of Neuschwanstein castle. Really high bridge walk that is exhilarating and beautiful. Amazing views of the landscape and rugged and wild environment. Don't miss this!

This is one of the most idyllic settings on a nice day. The bridge can get a bit crowded but it's worth walking up here just to see the breathtaking view. A must.

If you are up for a little adventure, you will be rewarded with a hike along/atop the river running behind the castle, fewer crowds and a more enjoyable nature experience. The hike will take about 45 minutes, is super family friendly, paved or maintained the...More

We were hoping to see the Marienbruke but it is closed until at least the middle of November 2015 for restoration. The surrounding footpaths are also shut. If you plan to visit the bridge you would do well to check local web sites to confirm...More

The Gorge was the only hiking we did. I do not know what hiking there is on the other side of the bridge (not good with heights so I didn't even make it across .. yes, I'm ok being a sissy)
