On the one hand, of course, there is a stunning cathedral (which is not even a cathedral, but just a church, just - for a moment - the tallest in the world!). It looks like a rocket that is about to take off from the Earth into space. Inside, I was especially impressed by the wooden choirs, created, according to information from the Internet, from 1469 to 1474 by the master Jörg Zirlin, with carved busts and bas-reliefs of people and fantastic creatures - not a single image is repeated, it is simply beautiful. Stained glass windows - there are several original ones that have survived, but what was used to replace the ones that did not survive is causing protest. This is complete disrespect for the old masters, no attempt to preserve at least the style....
So is the whole center of Ulm. The few remaining charming old half-timbered houses are interspersed with ultra-modern patches... When you see what has been preserved and imagine what it looked like before, it becomes sad. In my opinion, the way the historical center in Ulm was “restored” is a big failure.
Is Ulm worth visiting? Of course, at least for the sake of the cathedral. But don't expect much from the "old town" if you love and are looking for such places... When I think how much beauty was destroyed during the war, I just want to cry...

The "Fischerviertel" (Fishermen's Quarter) is a scenic quartier of old Ulm along the Blau river, with several half-timbered houses and the "Schiese Haus" (world record as the most crooked hotel).
It is a nice walk along the narrow streets of Fischerviertel.

wonderful wonderful atmosphere, and an unforgettable view because the garden is located on a small bridge, the service is excellent, the taste of the fish - I can't decide which was better - a fantastic gastronomic pleasure.

My wife and I took a leisurely stroll through this neat picturesque area with its many buildings dating back centuries. It was like walking back through time. Well worth a visit.

Woman is an absolutely beautiful old town with many remarkably preserved buildings from the 13th century. The river for all of us around the city with many small tributary’s through the center. A perfect day is wondering these wonderful cobblestone streets and going into all of the shops and restaurants

If you are visiting Ulm, chances are you can to see the Ulm Minster. If so, then you will likely be talking a walk around the mighty cathedral. If so, the the Fishermen's Quarter is an obvious place to see. My wife and I enjoyed our leisurely stroll through these quaint little streets, crossing over several little bridges over the canals of this historic city and birthplace of Albert Einstein. While there is a plethora of old medieval houses, which are cozy, one that you must see is the Crooked House. All in all, a definite thing to do when in Ulm.

I enjoyed a leisurely stroll through the back streets and over the little bridges across the canals of this wonderfully atmospheric part of Ulm. It's really close to the main square of this lovely city. There is a plethora of old medieval houses and cosy, quaint restaurants. It's a wonder how some of the houses and buildings are still standing and haven't just crumbled into the canals. But if you are visiting Ulm this little area is a MUST.

Starting from the Butchers gate a walk along the wallls and down into the fishermans district is a must if you are in Ulm.
Various sluices, leats and water mill wheels along with overhanging timber frame buildings make a fascinating scene at any time of year.
