It may be easier to have a guide show you around these passages, though I found it more fun to search for them myself.
Nice way to see a side of the city that would normally be hidden away.

The passage corridors are very impressive. Bright and some are quite dark. The entrance from the street closes at 1300 because people still live in these troubles, so visiting hours are limited. You must keep quiet during the visit. The passage with the pink tower is spectacular in its beauty. There is also a beautiful art gallery with a very sympathetic host.

Even though hundreds of these passageways existed at one time, the majority are now closed, or private.

It was great accessing one on Rue Saint-Jean that is classed as the longest in the city. Atmospheric it certainly was as we made our way quietly through courtyards and past buildings.

The Traboules du Vieux Lyon are an essential part of the history of Lyon both in the past and in the present. Many are free and ope, others are accessible with a guide only, and some are closed and only used for storage. Each one Is Unique.

Fun thing to pop into and through. We enjoyed it while walking through the old city. The history is interesting.

We found one of the famous traboules - but the door was closed. The door in the other end in another street was closed, too. How to get inside?

We must have looked rather baffled and confused, because one of the locals stopped and showed us that you just have to push a button next to the door, and then it opens.

Remember only to reveal the secret to people who deserves it - like you and me (c;

These are "hidden" walkways and courtyards that were used by the silk industry...1800s I think. You have to look for the doors along the streets. Nothing spectacular to see.

We visited these sites on our visit in Lyon and found them very interesting and, somehow, unique. It is practically a chain of connected culoirs linking blocks and buildings.

We had the addresses for several traboules located at 27 rue St Jean and 31 rue du Boeuf in Vieux Lyon. The door was closed and didn’t realize at first that we could just open it. There was a sign saying to be quiet in respect to the people who live there. During the war, the city was a strong hold for French resistance and many of these passages enabled the people to escape Gestapo raids.
