I didn't know anything about this painter, but my attention was caught by a photograph I found on the listings in the Lyon Card booklet. It turned out to be one of the highlights of my staying in Lyon. The entrance is free with the Lyon Card and even if the museum is a little out of the centre it is really easy to reach by bus ( also free on the card). The location by the river is also great, we waited for the opening hour with a stroll in a lovely park nearby. I suppose we could describe the art as post impressionist, large canvases: Landscapes, buildings, but also portraits, I particularly liked the use of the oranges and yellows often contrasting with darker colours. I don't know what it is , but when I got back home I couldn't stop talking about it!

The entrance to this museum was one of the option offered by my Lyon Card. We almost didn't go because it's a bit out of the city center. Luckily we did! The transport is included in the card and it's a 20 minutes bus journey from the Old Town. The location in itself is great: across the river through Barbe Island. A lovely park rises just around the corner from the museum on the slopes of the hills. The museum itself is filled with many paintings, mostly landscapes and cityscapes but also portraits and still lives. I didn't know this painter, a 20th century french artist from Lyon, but now I am in love with his work. I really recommend a visit.
