    Lovely Glimpse into the Past
This iconic structure is seen throughout Annency. The museum has interesting exhibits that detail the background of the building. It’s interesting to travel from room to room and take in the various displays. The museum is the perfect size for an hour’s visit. It is well worth the entry fee.

    Wonderful hotel
We had a wonderful experience at this hotel. The staff were professional and friendly. The location couldn’t be better. So central and our room and balcony had the most beautiful view. Looking out was gorgeous and full of atmosphere. My daughter forgot her special teddy and they were kind enough posted it home for us. They went over and above for us and it was greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend this hotel.

    Iconic photo shot of Annecy
The Palais de l’Isle is the iconic wedge-shaped building that can no doubt be seen on most photos of Annecy. The building is actually a museum now and well worth a look round. Alternatively, just be like most tourists and get your camera out.

The most iconic building in the town
Probably the most iconic building in the town. Shaped like the front of a boat and never a palace. Very cheap to visit and ticket can be combined with the Chateau. Probably need less than an hour. If you use the QR code there is a lot of historical information to read.

    A timeless place
The Palais de l'Ile is certainly one of the most beautiful places in Annecy. This historic monument dates back to the Middle Ages and can be seen free of charge from the banks of the river that surrounds it in the middle of the city. It's a must-see on any visit to Annecy. However, you need to be careful about the time of year you visit, as it can be very touristy and therefore quickly suffocating with people.

    Walking through time
It’s a marvellously atmospheric and evocative space. On the Thiou, it was great to see its majestic profile as we strolled towards and around it. Its past role predominantly as a prison is highly evident. Cells and dungeons are redolent of the tough past. This function was again implemented during the dreadful years of WW II. Today it provides a fabulous home for a museum of the architecture and heritage of the city and region. And it wonderfully exhibits and describes these.

Small but very interesting-check hours-closed for lunch which delayed us. There are stairs here so it would be difficult for handicapped people. Takes about 45 min. Cool place.

Would recommend Lake Annecy, a beautiful city and plenty to see and do.
We stayed at Chez Marjorie would highly recommend if you are looking for a small apartment close to all amenities

Entry is quite cheap and cheerful so since it’s such an iconic building from the outside and situated right in the old quarter, I’d say go in… but don’t expect too much!

There is very little translated into English and it does not take long to walk around.

Great building, which was originally a prison - very atmospheric. Sadly we couldn’t understand the ‘history of Annecy’ as so little of it was translated into English - we mentioned this to a guide and they are aware and intending to change this.
