Not bad, but more of a 'fans only' museum.
During my visit part of the museum was closed to install a new exhibition... so they lowered the entry fee! Why can't other museums do this? If any of the museum's management are reading this- Thank You! Anyhow, most of the collection seems to be sketches, drawing, and lighter works produced during Picasso's two month residence here. It's fleshed out with some larger works donated later, plus a decent selection of Picasso's ceramics. Also scattered throughout are works by other artists in the same vein as Picasso, especially on the terrace overlooking the sea. Walking around was quite confusing due to renovations and covid rules, and I found myself by the exit without having seen everything. Luckily the staff heeded my pleas and let me re enter. Now the collection is not bad, but if you are not a big fan of Picasso you may find it a bit tame. For me though, it made for a nice day trip from nearby Nice.

Enjoyed the ambiance and the relaxed atmosphere, taking time to study some of Pcasso's greatest works, some lesser known pieces too... I was unaware that he was also into ceramics. My daighters, my wife and I now own some limited edition prints which we will treasure as they bring back memories of a wonderful trip to Antibes.

    Fantastic!
We visited this museum with our children aged 9 and 12 and the entire family loved it. I liked the size of the museum which was small enough that we didn't feel overwhelmed and could casually see everything and a manageable amount of time. The sculpture and pottery were especially interesting.

Lovely building with a good collection of Picasso and others. He was a multitalented man who saw things differently than most. The location is beautiful - it’s well worth a visit!

Nice spot on the coast, not the best collection of Pablo's work but for 8 Euro you can get in and have a look. The actual building is nice and so ar some of the paintings, the plate collection was interesting.

Even more than I could have wished for, absolutely stunning! Lots of art, beautiful building in a stunning location. I would go back in a heartbeat! The best! Also the size of the museum was perfect, not too overwhelming but still lots to see.

Great Picasso 3 story stone museum showing many of his works after 1946 and created in this building - plus some other artists' works from the same period. It's in an excellent location the Garibaldi Castle on the waterfront and the 3 floors are accessible by stairs. Luckily, there is a glass elevator for those of us with creaky bones. (But you will be sharing it with the crying baby in a stroller crowd . . . ) Take some extra time outside on the terrace too. The sculptures & gardens are well suited to each other. Many of us plan trips like ours around museums of this quality.

We visited on a very hot day. Views from the terrace were amazing, on a cooler day it would be great place to relax, however the heat for us was unbearable. Museum itself is bigger than I thought. Nice and helpful people working in there.

Let me say first that when compared with other museums dedicated to Picasso, this one, though being the first museum in the world to be dedicated to him, probably is the least comprehensive one but nevertheless, I enjoyed it a lot.

The building is an old one, it used to be the bishops residence from 442 to 1385 and then hosted the famous Monegasque family of Grimaldi's until 18th century. And as of 1920s it was converted into the Grimaldi Museum by the local authorities.

In 1940s local authorities took a very wise step and invited Picasso to this building for a long period to serve as his studio. So, the majority of the Picasso work we see here are the ones he created during his 6 months long stay in 1946 and/or those he personally gave to the museum. In 1966 the Grimaldi Museum becomes Picasso Museum and ever since, enlarges its collection with gifts of other Picasso collectors. There are also works of other artists in the museum.

So don't expect a Picasso museum like the one in Paris. If you lower your expectations, you will enjoy the place much better. By the way the terrace overlooking to vast Mediterranean Sea is very very impressive with sculptures. Especially those of Germaine Richier are fabulous.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Picasso Museum in Antibes. It is situated in the spectacular Chateau Grimaldi and has some fine views. The museum focuses on art created by Picasso while he lived here. There are also some pieces by other artists which we enjoyed and must give a special mention to the video of Jaume Plensa creating his work in the adjacent room.
