The Palace of the Popes is in the main square of Avignon and is really majestic. The security measures are very high so it takes time to enter the complex. This Palace was used between 1305-1376 for 71 years by 7 popes. Now it is...More

Was the main thing we saw and had time for. Check actual times as website said 5pm closing but when we got there was actually 7pm. We did enjoy having the audio tablet tour. Kids will use the treasure hunting game to pass more time.

We spent an afternoon viewing this very impressive palace. Admission fee very reasonable ( discount for seniors) with clear signage and helpful staff. Good shop and nice cafe. The Palace is situated in a nice area with interesting cafes and hotels. Every visitor is given...More

I was reluctant to visit the Palais fearing it would be dominated by guided tours. I couldn’t have been more wrong. The Palais is a remarkable survival from the Middle Ages and the interpretation is extremely sensitive. You get a real impression of how the...More

I can only give this a very good rating based on the awesome view from the square in front of the palace. It looks like a fairy tale setting especially at dusk when the lights shine on and around it. Unfortunately we did not go...More

Where else can you see the “second Vatican”. It’s a truly historic palace and well worth a visit. The table virtual reality/audio tour is great too.

Great place to visit, very good audio/visual aid tour which was extremely easy to use, the views from this place are beautiful of the surrounding area and of the river Rhône which runs alongside, a must see if you are in the area.

This is a very interesting place to visit but what made it spectacular is the computer tablet that is included with the admission. You can use it to see how the Palais des Papes looked when the popes resided there. As you tour around the...More

I stopped by here on a tour of Provence and it was, frankly, kind of boring. It provided beautiful views but I wouldn't recommend this over other places in Provence.

Set on a large square, the Palais des Papes is an entry point into the history of the Catholic church and of the various regions which eventually formed France. Entry fee includes the use of a "histopad", an iPad/earphones interactive video guide which allows you...More

Easy. You would get near the Pont d Avignon and if you go to the bridge information shop you can buy a ticket to go on the bridge and straight into the Palais. Enjoy.
