Driving across the ile de Re was lovely and in April very uncrowded. The lighthouse costs only a few Euros to climb and is well worth it. The spiral staircase is a work of art, as is the lighthouse keeper’s wood panelled room at the...More

Some fine small restaurants open all afternoon to enjoy reasonably-priced seafood. The two-hour Nº 3 bus ride from La Rochelle train station is very good value. There are also some interesting coastal walks. There is a car park, but beware, the roads even in September...More

This is the furthest place on the Ile de Re and a nice place to visit. Most tourists stay shy of this part, so here you get the real island feel. The beach on the north east side of the light house is amazing.

Nice stopping point for a wander around when touring the island. The lighthouse itself and beach behind it are worth a stop and visit.

hello, yes everything is flat and long enough to do by bike. You have to think of going back to the bridge in the evening before nightfall. There are villages to cross but there are express roads for cycling. goodbye
