Get in early avoid the crowds. When you go in its quite simple which emphasises the areas of interest and beauty. Interesting display at the minute which makes you think.

What an amazing building. The building prices started in 1150 and was an example for Paris, Reims and many more. Really a must see when you are in the area. Can’t miss it since it is basically on a mountain.

We stopped for a look round Laon and what a stunning place the old city is. You could see it for miles and it commanded the surrounding countryside. We drove up to the top and parked. The cathedral is extraordinary. Quite like Notre Dame in...More

This cathedral worth a special journey. We had visited almost all best cathedral in France. Why is the best? Because such beautiful cathedral as Reims, or Charters, or Amiens copied this cathedral in some parts. Simply majestic cathedral built in XII - XIII centuries.

On a par with any other of the great northern french gothic cathedrals, but empty!!! Staggeringly beautiful inside and out, and with no crowds or tatty tourist shops or medal machines. And the medieval portion of Laon is a delight too. Well worth a visit.

Staying near Reims we picked today almost randomly to visit the lovely medieval hill town of Laon. When we entered the Cathedral we saw that preparations were underway for a service of some kind and when we reached the altar we saw the telltale signs...More

Beautiful cathedral in a beautiful town. Not as big as anything in Paris but the animal gargoyles on the outside made it different.

When in Laon we didn't go to Reims. From what I know the cathedral and the champagne cellars are the musts of the area.
