We had lovely time discovering the wines of Loire valley. Our group did the full and the half day tour. I would highly recommend this to anyone wanting to understand the wines of the region before venturing out and visiting the vineyards. The half day tour consisted of a tour of a vineyard followed by tasting at a domaine. The full day also involved some more in depth education of tasting wines as well as a lovely lunch. Vanessa was a lovely guide and she even picked us up from our accommodation. The price is very competitive for the area and definitely good value for money! X…

This was not only great fun but very enlightening. Vanessa is a terrific communicator. We have already started to put into practice what we learned. If you have any interest in wine then this is definitely worth a visit.

We were put in touch with Vanessa from Le Secret des Papilles directly by our B&B hosts (Casanova). She informed us over email of all the different tour options she offered, from half day to full day. They normally only run one tour in English per week, but very kindly offered to take us on another day as we were not available on the normal day. We were on the tour with a French couple, but Vanessa perfectly switched between French and English and there was never a moment we didn't understand. We chose the half day tour, which consisted of a 45 min stroll through some vineyards and Tusseau caves, with Vanessa explaining the history and process of growing wine in France, and Saumur itself. We then went back to her shop, where we were taught about different aromas and how to taste wine. This was really interesting and completely different to any other tour we had been on. Each wine we tried was paired with a canopy bite from the local deli, which was a great addition as Vanessa explained how to pair food with wine. There are plenty of wine caves to visit in Saumur, but the tour with Le Secret des Papilles offered something completely different. A lot cheaper than any other tours that offer a walk through the vineyard and by far the most informative tour we went on in Saumur. Highly recommended!…
