We spent a night here on route through France and found it to be well appointed and comfortable. My only suggestion would be to add a table in the room so there is somewhere to put keys/watch/wallet overnight. The surroundings are gorgeous with lovely gardens and far reaching views and we were well looked after.…

Yes, it was much more than tourism. In fact it wasn't tourism at all. It beguns as a visit to the first of 4 chateaux foreseen for the afternoon. Luckily, it became the only one! Are you confuse? I explain. The castle was closed that day but, as good tourists, me and my partner remained nearby just for some pictures. By the moment we was just ready to go, the big wooden doors of the castle opened to welcome a special visitor from London (the origin we just knew later on). As good portuguese we went forward and presented our self as if the host was just there for us. He kindly answer by the name of Goulaine. Goulaine!? Yes it was the descendant of the first Goulaines and one of the actual owners of the castle. He couldn't have been nicer and, even not being a visit day, he offered himself to guide us through the interior of the castle. Were we lucky or not? My answer is YES. We spend a significant part of the afternoon in the Chateau Goulaine and had to cancel the next castles, but the balance was extremely positive. After all, what are the odds for this to happen again? (none, I guess). The castle is beautiful and is still alive (there is still Goulaines living there). It's not just a museum piece. In it we have the clear notion of being part of its history. Bottom line: I felt that I visited a old time friend that is lucky enough to be able to receive me in a castle. Please note that this kind of lucky takes a lot of effort! :-) Mr. Goulaine, thank you for your sympathy and patience. All the best for you and family and please forgive us for these extra hours of work :-). About the guy from London, well, I just can say that maybe we will be able to see this castle on Discovery Chanel one off these days. Stay tuned.…

Beautiful french style castle integrated in the city. The gardens are lovely and well cared, as well as the inside which you can visit buying an extra ticket!

Not much of this small to medium chateau was available to see and what there was, was fairly interesting. The LU biscuit museum was worth a visit for the artwork on display but the gardens and large empty courtyard and buildings were disappointing.

we didn't do the museum, just walked around the outsides, on the walls. Nice as right in the middle of the town!
