A great monument of faith

This is a such a huge church. A monstrous size building with many altars and stained glass windows. I do think how this kind of structure was built without proper equipment but with such a precision and finesse with every small detail. It is a free to visit it so don’t skip it!

The church was beautiful and we'll kept. If you're passing by and have 15-30 minutes to spare go inside!

Amazing!
Sep 2019
Our group of travellers from Canada visited this most amazing cathedral while touring Nantes. The cathedral of course is beautiful! It is 102 meters long and the ceilings are 29 meters high. The construction began in 1434 on the site of a Romanesque cathedral and took 457 years to finish, finally reaching completion in 1891. Various tombs to see, and it is a very peaceful place to walk around. Look out for the incredible stained glass windows.

Beautiful!

Beautiful and serene cathedral. Definitely worth a walk through. Had to imagine about many 100s of years it took to build.
Several unique tombs with amazing monuments carved from marble.

Don't miss the tomb of Francois I

The cathedral is beautifully light & airy, with modern glass. The royal tomb is a spectacular piece of Renaissance stonework.

Majestic Cathedral
Oct 2019
At a walking distance from the "Chateau des Ducs", this cathedral has one of the highest ceiling I ever saw. Simple decoration, very beautifully shaped columns. It has the highest stained glass window in France. Really majestic.

Beautiful

This cathedral is stunning. There are many different kinds of stained glass windows. There are many medieval paintings and statues dedicated to various saints and Jesus and the virgin Mary. The whole ambiance is amazing. There is a lot to see inside and many intricate details. There is a monument inside dedicated to a general and Duke Francis 2nd of Brittany and his wifes tomb which is amazing.

Outstanding and beautiful architecture
Oct 2019
This is quite simply a stunning building, let alone its religious significant. Inside the cathedral is a very moving place and there is no one rushing you along. You take the time you want to view the cathedral and give what prayers you may choose to make.
One feature, unlike cathedrals in England, is that the whole visit is free.
Not only is there religious significance but architecturally it has relevance and more recent repairs to the structure reflect the experiences of the structure through WWII and bombing within the city.

Beautiful cathedral
Oct 2019 • Couples
This cathedral is not as ornate as some others in France with the stained glass windows being quite modern compared to some. It was also very clean outside and you can see the white stone to great effect.
Lovely space to wander around with a small donation if you wish.
