Another itinerary that you need to have on your Rouen visit is the Vieux Rouen. Gazing on these beautiful, half-timbered buildings makes you feel you're in Rouen during its medieval period. Its impressive that these architectures have survived since the 13th century. Truly it has...More

Well worth the time spent strolling around. Beautiful buildings all well maintained, and very pretty. Afternoon was a quiet time to get lots of photos and we pretty much had it to ourselves!

The old town of Rouen is beautiful and a true monument. Just explore , wander around and enjoy the middle aged streets, all well preserved and restored to their original beauty. This city in North of France is a gem and worth a stop on...More

This is a beautiful Center with a lot of old buildings but some parts look seedy. You see they try to redecorate some parts but in one street you have old buildings and the next one has thrown in windows and graffiti. I hope this...More

Beautiful olde worlde town of Rouen with the wooden facades, just lovely to walk around. The half timbered facades can also be dated as the buildings that jut put slightly from the first floor pre-date 1580 as they were not allowed to be built like...More

The old city is definitely worth a visit - beautiful old half timbered houses and mostly pedestrianised. The outskirts of the city are quite industrialised and the one-Way streets made driving a nightmare, but once we were parked we started to discover the beauty of...More

There are more half timbered facades than in any other city in France, and probably the world, even with the bombing the city took in WWII. The shopping streets, clock-tower, numerous massive churches and Abbeys as well a very fine Art Museum and fantastic food...More

Homes 500 years old, give or take, bulge and dip and are still in use. Some have their dates on them. Walking from the Cathedral to the Abbey or Museum you see many. The center of town was a bit cluttered and streets dirtier than...More

The old houses are picturesque and photogenic. Go with the camera between 0730 and 0900 to get views with out people in the way

If you are looking for halftimbered houses, and buildings, this is a great spot! I went to wander the neighborhoods of my early ancestors. It was amazing! St Maclou is a marvel in stone! While there, an organist was practicing for a recital on the...More

You will likely not need to. We were just there with large crowds in early July, and got right in with a wait of maybe 15 minutes. August is crazy... but September is very nice! Much smaller crowds and you can see it a... More

Gee, I would not try to drive to Giverny, spend time there, then head to Rouen - it's a lot of driving, not giving you much time at Giverny & Rouen. I would consider just doing Rouen - it's a good sized city and there's... More
