Always great to visit the old cathedrals of Europe. Not the most grand, but worth the visit if you are in the area.

Love looking at churches and this one is just as beautiful as the next. Stopped here as part of our tour of Juno beach. Glad we did!

A nice little church with a bonus crypt and modern stained glass. The grounds are lovely and the attached council buildings are so lovely and French!

Walking around the neighbourhood, ventured in and stood at the back and took in the magnificence of this ancient structure. As a service was in progress did not get to see too much up close but did add to the atmosphere. The Abbaye is on...More

Set on a hill on the opposite side of Caen, it looks down across the Chateau to its distant male counterpart, the Abbaye aux Hommes. Who said women weren't important in the Middle Ages?

We were enthralled by Abbaye aux Dames which exudes historical importance as the burial place of Mathilda of Flanders, who married William the Conqueror (who is buried at Abbaye aux Hommes). Unlike Abbaye aux Hommes which charges a ripoff 7 Euros for a very bad...More

Disappointed by the visit since the abbey has become an administrative center and there is not much to visit anymore. Perhaps more interesting with a guide able to enter the rooms which we found mostly closed

Impressive contrast between white walls and dark (red-and-black) colours in altar, over Mathilda's tomb. Historical place, but as for me not because of ancient stones and Mathilda's grave only, but first of all due to atmosphere of love and peace over Her grave stone -...More

An unplanned visit caused by the heavy snow inland, so we undertook no research prior to the visit. So my review is simply based on our brief observations. The most striking point that I observed was the interior of the building almost a thousand years...More
