Probably the best WW2 museum in France. We spent four hours looking at all of the exhibits and watching the films. The museum has a fast food snack bar and restaurant that was reasonably priced.

One of the rare places you will leave different than when you went inside. We took part of the "family visit" with 4 children. It's recommended for children over 8 years old. It was for them, and for us as adults, very instructive. the route...More

Beautiful museum just outside of Caen. Definetly worth a visit. It's worth every Euro you pay for entrance. I spend there an entire morning (3 to 4 hours). You can get Audiophones and a part of the museum you can visit for free (the bunker).

We were in two minds about whether to visit this because it was a long walk from where we were staying, but in the end were glad we went. It was very informative and in places very moving. We had allowed 3 hours for our...More

The entire region is filled with memorials, historical plaques and the like, all worth seeing. This center is built on top of a former command bunker, and is an excellent start to put the entire Second World War in historical perspective, so one understands the...More

We had a wonderful tour of the museum while visiting Omaha Beach on our D-Day tour. It was a beautiful tribute and record of the sacrifice of so men on that fateful day. So many wonderful displays!

This is a large museum. I wish I had more time to view the many exhibits. Suggest several hours. There is also an excellent 20 minute movie. In addition to explaining and showing interesting artifacts of the liberation of Europe, there are exhibits of events...More

So detailed. Well done. Children interested all the way round. More on Southern Hemisphere experience than most places. Sophisticated analysis.

Take your time for this visit. 3 hours should be your plan. Starting from the events leading to the rise of national-socialism in Germany, over WWII to the cold war.... History of Europe's recent century at a glance.

A deceptively large museum, when you first see the exterior. It has very well laid out exhibits, and the audio guide was great to accompany them. Allow yourself more time than you think you need to visit.
