This is a huge site. Admission is free to the grounds, including the ramparts. There are two museums within the walls; admission is charged for those. The ruins of the ducal palace are visible but not accessible by the public (although they are accessible by...More

Built over several centuries, Caen Chateau is free to enter, although you do pay for the museums. It's such a contrasting place that it offers a little of many things. Started by William the Conquerer, and with additions by Henry I and subsequent French kings,...More

Nice place for a (free) visit in Caen. One of the biggest remaining in Europe. Great views over Caen from top of the remparts.

When you come at Caen enter in the City coming by North. Passing in the castle offer you a different experience to discover and view all from above. Very nice

Caen suffered terrible devastation in World War II leaving few buildings undamaged but it is still worth a visit for the intertwined history of France and England that began with William the Conqueror from this very Chateau.

An interesting site with some good exhibits but there isn’t much left to see. There are some decent parts intact but the vast majority is inaccessible. The view towards the town is ok but you can’t see very much because of the vegetation.

Yes, 5-10 minutes walk (slightly uphill some of the way). Plenty of restaurants/bars/brasseries within the same distance.
