You will find Librairie Furet du Nord or the Ferrets of the North Bookstore on the Grand Place.
I love a book store and this shop has been operating since 1960! It claims to be the largest book shop in Europe but I'm not sure having visited Blackwells in Oxford?
Obviously most of the books are not written in English but there are sections, here and there, where a display of English books on a particular genre are available for sale. The only catch is the price. I spotted, for example, a copy of a recently released paperback by one of my favourite writers but it was nearly three times the price I would pay back home. I'm not sure why?

Outside of the books on sale there are some wonderful stationery items and I picked up some unique individual postcard/ notelets which I will use for Thank you messages etc in the future.

Spent hours here. Gorgeous stationery and a huge range of books. They also have advice booths which is a great idea. I didn't actually try them.

There are so many things to buy here - books, obviously loads of other gifts, stationery, cards & toys. The woman who served me spoke English better than I speak French (not difficult) it was nice to be in shade for once.

My wife and I are huge book lovers and you could definitely spend over an hour in here if you speak French.
They have a small English section with books priced at around £10+.
A great place to hide from the rain and get lost in all genres of books.

On the Grand Place, as one of a terrace of premises, Furet du Nord occupies 7 floors. There are stairs beween the floors and one lift servind odd numbers and another the even numbers. We have known it for many years. One a bookshop only, now it sells calendars, stationary, tapes etc. It has moved with the times and changing tasts

Certainly bigger than any we have seen. Very relaxed - you could sit and read a book, rather than buy it if you had time. Good music section. Second hand book shops in the old Bourse across the square
