The upper-middle-class house in which Charles de Gaulle was born in 1890 is now a museum, run by the Nord Département. The house is divided into two parts (the large one on the "left side" and small one or "right side") - these two sides are...More

It's the birth house of Charles de Gaulle, but actually it was the house of his grandmother. So Charles de Gaulle was here only for vacations. It can be my mistake, but i still don't understand why he was born here and not in his own...More

The opening times take a little license here and are a bit erratic on the timetable. The place itself is rather dull, de Gaulle had a slightly restricted childhood and the house is, in it way, quite modest. Half an hour maximum needed, very few...More

A little out of the way from the main streets of Old Lille, it was worth a short walk to see the birthplace and well preserved home of Charles de Gaulle. Audio guides and laminated paper info in several languages. Spent a nice hour there...More

This is a very nice museum and when walking through the house/rooms you can still imagine how life was at that time. They have audio guides and you can walk around on your own, very convenient. The entrance fee is really not high. This museum...More

The rooms are almost as they were left. It was interesting to see how they would have lived in those days and the English translation was great - so many attractions did not have English translation, but we tried to decipher some words (rightly or...More

If you're looking to explore Lille's old town, you might see the childhood home of Charles de Gaulle signposted - we wandered through the streets to see it, but were expecting a plaque outside rather than the opportunity to go inside. The house - more...More
