We walked from the opposer side of the city to view the church, we look at many others along the way. all of which were open.
This was the only one that was closed. which is strange as the Catholic Church is supposed to be open to everyone.

This is a relatively modern cathedral in a gothic revival style, but my understanding is they struggled with the money to complete the original plans, and instead it feels rather empty and plain.

This cathedral sits in the old town part of Lille. It’s hugely impressive and the sunlight off the roof creates an interesting effect.

Nice cathedral, for one of the younger ones I have seen, it is nicer than many older ones, including some gothic ones. Only this facade is so empty

Well worth a visit if you are ever visiting Lille. It has been beautifully restored and the interior of the church is warm and welcoming which is so difficult in large open spaces. Some lovely stained glass windows to see. The church was a little difficult to find but well worth the walk from the main square

Come and see this grey stone 19th century gothic edifice when they finish cleaning it. They've only just started and the clean bits look constructed out of plasterboard on a 1930s set for the Emerald City on the MGM lot.
There's a 20th century facade tacked on, this time from Startrek
Inside the stations of the cross are wacky modern abstracts.
Like it or loathe it, it has to be seen to be believed

This cathedral was reported as damaged during warfare and instead of a sympathetic restoration there is a stark modernist facade which leaves the visitor in no doubt as to the statement being made regarding moving on

The modern entrance looks a bit strange from the outside but, once you're inside it's beautiful, particularly the stained glass windows above the old doors. The old part (towards the back) is also lovely.
The choral music helped build the ambiance and make our visit very enjoyable.
