When we visited the Cloitre, it was lightly raining most of the time. Despite the inclement weather, we were struck by the peaceful nature of the enclosure and garden. We took lots of pictures and would recommend this and the associated church to anyone visiting...More

In the mayhem of a tourist town, this is a true gem which gives instant peace a calm. The gardens are beautiful and the cloistered walkways a real change from the street outside. Very difficult not to feel instant relaxation

How many people today understand what it is to be cloistered: to be shut up in a convent or monastery, to be secluded from the wider world? At the suggestion of a friend, I ducked down a pedestrian street and up some stairs to pop...More

This small square "garden" planted with herbs and vegetables in the style of a medieval "potager". Looks like an untreated garden and not well-kept. Visiting "this site" took no more than 5 minutes, just walked around. We spent more time to find this place than...More

A delightful tranquil gem in the heart of Albi, with interesting pottager style gardens, well labelled. It was lovely to sit in the archways of the cloister and just rest.

Hidden cloister, which you access from two different pedestrian streets. It's from the 13th Century, with a mixture of Romanesque and Gothic, and only part of the arched gallery is left. There's a peaceful and well cared veggie garden. You'll leave with a feeling of...More

We wandered the streets of Albi after visiting the cathedral and accidentally found this little gem, a pretty cloister and church. If you're fascinated by religious relics you will not be disappointed - I am still slightly traumatised by the head of Saint Segolene! The...More

I just strolled into the cloister. It was charming but I soon regretted not taking a guided tour when I began eavesdropping on one that was part of the city tour. Without the tour the visit takes only minutes. If my ranking is low for...More

Worth diving in from the main street - quite well hidden just a little sign. And watch out for rude people who ask you to move so they can take a picture - when you only just stood there and they have been moving around...More

We stumbled across this whilst mooching around Albi and really liked it. It was very quiet and calm and a source of much-needed shade. We sat under the arches and admired the gardens and could easily imagine it in times gone by.
