The nearly five-star ratings for the Verdun Battlefields are most appropriate. I wanted to see the various sites in the area and got so much more. My guide Ingrid was excellent. Her knowledge of the area was astounding. I had no idea about the siege...More

There are several destinations associated with WW1 in the area that are most easily visited but car. The level of slaughter in such a small area is saddening. The quayside in the town is lovely and there is an imposing cathedral. Please make the effort...More

Ingrid was our tour guide for an unforgettable day at the Verdun battlefield. She had many stories about the soldiers that aren’t in the history books, and tailored the tour to our interests. We skipped the American WWI sites and the town of Verdun itself...More

This is an amazing site. To see all the crosses is breathtaking and brings home all of the deaths that occurred. This is a very peaceful place and a fitting monument to the French soldiers that died here. A definite must visit - you can...More

Along with the museum and the destroyed village/s this makes a very moving and thought provoking afternoon visit to the Verdun region. Would highly recommend.

We visited the Ossuary and cemetery after having been around the Museum. This was a very moving location - 15,000 white crosses, all named, and with a carefully tended rose bush in front of each.

Visited The Ossuary, Douaumont which was beautifully kept and an amazing tribute to thousands of French soldiers who list their lives. We climbed the 200 stairs to the top of the tower which gives you an even greater perspective of the numbers lost. Well worth...More

Not a good option as you definitely need some sort of personal transport, especially for a day-trip. Check car rentals or a private guide with provided car.
