The outside can be somewhat off-putting, even a bit scary due to the imposing hight and massive structure. Inside a place of peace and quiet, very high ceiling and enormous wooden organ. One can walk all round. We gave rarely felt so comfortable in this...More

This cathedral is only half-finished. We entered from behind the altar which is an unusual place to start. That's because the cathedral just has the altar and choir sections completed. For various reasons over the centuries, the nave and transepts were never added. As a...More

Perhaps we had seen one cathedral too many, but we didn't find this one particularly spectacular. I wrote that it had wall hangings, stained-glass windows, and statues with their heads/faces removed during the French Revolution. My wife wrote that we walked from the bus to...More

We visited this Cathedral many many times during our 2 years while living in Narbonne. The size of this place always amazed me.

I think maybe I've seen too many churches and cathedrals to be objective in my reviews of them. This particular one is ok .... well, no actually, it is rather spectacular. The cloisters were amazing .... in completely the wrong way. Supposedly a place of...More

Similar to Siena’s cathedral, a dream stopped mid flight. What got built is quite beautiful and monumental and with the cloister and the archbishops’ palace a stunning urban masterpiece. Very happy to see this core of Narbonne is used and cherished.

This 14th century Gothic cathedral has a very impressive high ceiling. Measuring 41 metres under the arch, it is the fourth highest in France. It is also said to have been one of the most ambitious worksites in post-medieval France. The cathedral also features an ornate...More

This is a dark, un exciting cathedral. The stained glass is nothing special . I've seen much much better in other cities in France . Spain is the place to go,if you really want some beauties. England's magnificent too.

Very interesting place as the cathedral remains unfinished. Therefore the volumes are very interesting and it looks very weird specially when you are inside. I also like the cloister very much and the gargoyles are fascinating, this is leading to the archbishop garden whitch is...More
