The Carre d'Art is an interesting building designed by Norman Foster. It houses a library as well as art/sculpture exhibition spaces and a restaurant on the top floor. For me, the highlight is the restaurant/cafe as this is ideally located to provide a unique view...More

Stopped here to see the Temple as part of a tour of the South of France with a group. You start by seeing a lovely film showing the history of the town, lasting about 20 min's. Getting up to the entrance was a bit tricky...More

We started our day in Nimes here and we're glad we did as the film gave a good background historical setting for every thing else we visited.

You gotta love the French. I love the irony of where it's located. The museum is in a great building but the contents were not really the best (at least for me).

OK, the building itself is beautiful (to my eyes anyway) and the restaurant on top is excellent. Having said that, the art collection/exhibitions can vary wildly in standard, they may be to your taste, or not. It is lovely and cool in there on a...More

I left this art museum feeling frustrated. However, if you're interested in obscure, movement art and words randomly on walls...this might be your thing.

Maybe not as impressive as some of his other projects such as the Millennium bridge in London or the Millau bridge in France. Still a very functional and likeable building. The exhibition about minimalist movement was not my cup of tea. The permanent collection has...More

This modern art museum, gallery and city library is directly opposite the Maison Carree, and was designed by Norman Foster and opened in 1993. It is made of glass, concrete and steel and is an affectionate riff on the temple's architecture. It has about 400...More

The museum as such is not big and the art offer not special, what the building has is a wonderful library and a restaurant that I haven't visited unfortunately but it promises to have a good view of the Maison Carre building.
