Got handily ripped off on this terrible train — Avoid it. Takes you down a boring driveway knocking the fillings out of your head while choking on diesel fumes. Waits at each stop wasting your time... makes you queue up for the return trip while you watch others happily bike, stroll, or take the fun-looking golf carts which would have been 100x more enjoyable. We saw nothing of the gardens and were extremely glad to get off this terrible ride by the time it was finally done. Save your money and time and avoid this awful scam like the plague.

Dear Sir, We thank you for sharing your experience with us and sincerely regret that your trip did not suit you. Indeed, our little trains are getting older. However, they will have to be changed during 2020. For information, our trains are not allowed to run in the gardens as you would have liked. However, Les Petits Trains du Parc de Versailles is an alternative to walking to another point in the Park, as the size of the Park is so large, or to allow you to visit one of the most beautiful sites in France in a fun and pleasant way, as indicated on our website and on our signs at each stop on the estate. We hope that your next visit to the Parc du Château de Versailles will be more pleasant. L'équipe des Petits Trains

This is a little train which is more about taking you from A to B than about the views from the train. It goes from the Château to the Grand Trianon, the Petit Trianon and the lake (restaurants), but taking a back route through the woods rather than going straight down the gardens. If, like us, you have been walking all day and don't feel like walking all the way to the Grand Trianon (which is worth a visit) then it's ideal. Quite a bumpy ride, but this added to the fun. You can hop off at any stop and get another little train later. The lakeside stop is right beside a restaurant, the pedal boat station and ice-cream stall at the near end of the big lake. The round trip costs €8. We chose this rather than the golf buggy type vehicles which were more expensive, and looked slow. We saw at least one family on one of those having to go back because the buggy was undercharged and wouldn't go faster than at a crawl. This seemed a bit dodgy as you are charged when you get back (€34 for the first hour, and €8.50 for every quarter hour thereafter).

Goes no where near the gardens. Just a bumpy ride to see very little. A terribly expensive rip off. Better to hire the golfbuggy

Versailles was beautiful! We stayed in Paris and took the train everywhere. However, make sure you buy a specific ticket to the zone of Versailles. There is police waiting for people when you get off the train to give you tickets or charge a large fee In cash per person for a simple mistake. We bought a 3 day train pass, we thought to all the zones in Paris by train. However, we were unaware that the zone in Versailles was not included in our tickets. So we were charged by the police at the train station. It happened to multiple tourists that were all unaware. Just an FYI!

We took a cab to Versailles from Paris and it cost around 100 EU with tip. We took the train back and it cost $7.40 EU. The train was clean, smooth and enjoyable.
