The statue outside of the Closerie des Lilas. Supposedly famous artists and writers gazed upon it while talking and drinking at the famous cafe. Noble statue.

I came across this bronze statue in a sidewalk area near the Closerie des Lilas, a favorite restaurant of Ernest Hemingway. The monument depicts Michel Ney, who commanded French troops in the French Revolutionary and the Napoleonic wars. I saw nothing remarkable about the statue,...More

The Marechal Ney Statue is right near the Raspail Metro and is at the sound end of the gardens area where you can see views all the way up to the Luxembourg Palace. It’s an impressive statue - not something that you’d go out of...More

Located in Paris' 6th Arrondissement, this monument to Michel Ney, honors a heroic military figure who fought in many battles and became a Marshal of the Empire under Napoleon. If you're in this pretty area have a look, but not a must see.

The statue is not all that impressive, but it is located in a beautiful extension of the Jardin du Luxembourg, next to the Closerie des Lillas, famous old cafe, now swank restaurant.

The statue is not all that special or artistic, but it is set in a great area. Word is that Hemmingway threw stuff at it while drinking in the cafe nest door. I don't think you should do the same.

We were walking along the streets here just looking at everything and ran across this statue. We had to look him up right then to see who he was. Turns out he was a general in Napoleon's army. His nickname was Bravest of the Brave....More

Worth a few minutes. Amazing to see the number of battles Marshal Ney fought. Compelled me to look up his history and read of his death.
