Queues for the Eiffel Tower can take over an hour at busy times but this skip-the-line tour lets you breeze past the crowds and enjoy priority access. Head straight up to the second floor and listen as your guide points out the Louvre, the Arc de Triomphe, and Notre Dame Cathedral. Finally, continue to the top floor on your own, where you can spend as long as you like admiring the views.

Living in Paris means there are thousands of restaurants, bistros, cafes and bars to try. When you need a night off from fois gras and steak frites, go to Enoteca for some truly authentic, world class Italian. The wine list is extensive and well cared for; they take such pride in their collection that at the end of dinner I was invited down to the most beautiful cellar of anywhere in Paris to see their beautifully laid out bouteilles by region and country. I had the Terre da Vino Barolo, and had to look up the bottle, it’s something I’ve been missing and can’t live without. The goodness of french ingredients with hand made Italian pastas was outstanding; each plate was a symphony of flavours on the tongue, perfectly cooked, outstanding Italian cuisine. It’s tucked away, hidden from the tourists, so you know it’s a treat for the locals. I left wanting more, this special “Enoteca” wine store.
