This is a part of very ancient Paris, re-cycled many time over and now one of the centers of the fabric and clothing trade. This used to be one of the poorest parts of the city where the homeless congregated. Look for the covered passageways, arrange for a guided tour.

This place may be the site of the old Court de Miracles, where beggars ended their day in the Middle Ages. It's also next to the strange Passage du Caire. Experience very old Paris. Now one of the centers of the fabric trade.

This is within the old city walls and is one of the oldest parts of Paris, built over a couple of times. Now the center of the fabric and fashion trade, but this may be changing as the cool people move in.

I believe that this is the oldest passage in Paris. It is very narrow and when we visited the roof was being repaired and it was very dark. The shops are very down market.

We were lucky enough to stay here. We noticed a sense of community we hadn't seen at home. It appears every one knows each other and some seem to not leave. They were there when we went out in the morning and still there 8hrs later when we got back and still there when we went out in the evening for our nightly meandering. A really nice feel to the area…
