I was here with a group of high school students, and the backstage tour we had was amazing! The tour guide was great, and the building is amazing. Wish we could have seen a performance here.

I was to see a ballet (which was amaizing), but boy - the building is ugly! It has that modern structure but without any amaizing features and it is placed in a quite crowded and dirty area of Paris. If you want to just visit...More

Easy access, atop Bastille Metro (NOT Opera Metro) with cab ranks outside. Very efficient cloakrooms. Unusually for Paris, strict refusal of tips for cloakroom staff and ushers. Free cast list, if you do not want the €12 souvenir programme. Most popular half-time tipple is Bollinger...More

First time in this opera house for Un ballo in maschera by Giuseppe Verdi. The opera house is modern and very big. An advantage with the layout is that noone sees half stage only. However, it lacks the charm of Opera Granier. The performance was...More

I just cannot fathom how an opera house devoted to a creative art form can so completely suck the emotional life out of a masterpiece like La Boheme. I left astounded at the lifelessness of this production. The good parts: the orchestra, Musetta sung by...More

Bastille / Oberkampf
Bastille and Oberkampf are lively parts of town made
for entertainment. During the day rows of unassuming
bars welcome customers for a bite or a drink, but it’s
at night this area really comes to life. Students and
young professionals fill the busy bars around Bastille
and Oberkampf. At Place de la Bastille, crowds flock
to the Opéra Bastille in the evening and groups wait
for coveted tickets during the day. Towards
