The China Club is an institution around Bastille. Great lounge for amazing drinks. Great food and staff very accommodating. You can enjoy two atmospheres : the bar upstairs, cosy and fun and the lounge downstairs for casual but very good dinners.

The "China" seemed like a really good idea. Shanghai-inspired interior, red lanterns, it certainly looks the part. But execution is awful. Despite a reservation we had to wait ages to get a table. The table we were then offered was right next to the kitchen and toilets, with barely any light at all. We asked for another table which resulted in another 20 minutes waiting time. Once we had a decent table it became obvious that staff was at capacity (well, frankly way beyond that), with one waitress trying to make 70 people happy. Very much felt as if staff was completely overwhelmed by the task und the whole place understaffed. Food was good but not more than that. All in all just about two stars. The waiters were trying to be nice, otherwise it would have been one star only.

This restaurant is a special one, you must visit it during your time in Paris! The staff is good and quick. The cocktails are really special and delicious. Just like the food. And everything is getting better because of the ambiance. Around dusk time the staff will close big red curtains so there is a intimate atmosphere. The music is very nice and good and perfect in this kind of a restaurant.

I have been going to Le China for around ten years (back when it was known as China Club). It closed for a while and then reopened following uproar from its patrons. This is the first time I'd been back since it had reopened and am pleased to say that it is just the same. Dark, sophisticated decor, polished old world charm in a suave candlelit atmosphere. We arrived for a nightcap at around 10.30pm (so had just missed the 8.30pm concert) and the place was pleasantly busy with laid back trendy Parisians. We sat at the bar and were served directly by the bartender, who was a joy to watch in action - a very competent young lady. The cocktail menu has been significantly reduced from days gone by but you can also have off menu cocktails made on request. Everything is priced at 12€ but generously proportioned. My partner didn't want to leave!

Great place to take a drink and catch some nice tunes. Make sure you check who's playing though!
