The...More

Their permanent collection of Monet's work is outstanding, but it also contains several other wonderful collections. Two rooms house Napoleonic-era sculpture, paintings and furniture. Their collection of illuminations, icons, and altarpieces is fabulous and well- presented. The works of impressionists other than Monet are a...More

An incredible collection of Monet -- definitely worth the trip to the fringes of the 16th. They have, in fact, the very picture that coined the name of the Impressionist movement.

Be careful, it opens at 10:00 usually with a long line waiting and more comes later, so be there early. Well worth it --outstanding Monet collection plus the building itself and the Marmottan items are a bonus.

The place is a museum in a big villa mainly dedicated to Monet paintings. If you want to see why Monet is that famous you should skip D’Orsay and visit Marmottan instead. Waterlilies from d’Orangerie might be the most famous but Marmottan paintings are by...More

We have grown to really appreciate Monet's paintings so we decided to see the Marmottan to see the Monets. We are happy we took the time.

If you’ve come for the Monet (as we did) don’t bother walking round the house. Head straight for downstairs and see them as the house exhibits lots of second rate art and the real show is downstairs

I enjoyed a nice glass of wine post-museum at La Rotonde de la Muette. I did not dine, but several other patrons sitting near me on the terrasse seemed to be enjoying their meals. The other diners were locals, not... More

The closest stop is probably La Muette, but Passy is probably more convenient- it is probably a 20 minute walk and the neighborhood is really nice and more open than the rest of the city- you also have Bir Hakeim on the same... More

Sorry, Like Laura B above, I got into the line waiting outside. your best bet is to get there before it opens and try to avoid what will probably be a large crowd.
