Returned here recently, a landmark setting for many 20th Century artists who used this building as a studio or residence. Nice neighborhood now, but back then close to a slaughterhouse and low rent.

A whole lot of 20th Century artists lived here. It was a slum before WWI, but now is quite pleasant and in the middle go a good middle class neighborhood. Pay homage to art.

Saved from demolition La Ruche meaning The Beehive was an oasis for artists of all kinds. Google it to get full history and those who lived there, I.e. Modigliani, Zadkine, and many others. The main building was brought to this location after The World's Fair...More
