I was not expecting this castle to be that big, I mean from the inside. There are so many rooms. You make a travel through characters and trough different times. Very well thought ! I definitely recommend !!

The palace is located one hour drive from paris. There is few parking close to the chateau, 12 euros for an adult without audio guide. The palace, home of kings of france and bonaparte family is really amazing and beautiful, i do not know why...More

My wife and I visited Château Fontainebleau in June 2018. Fontainebleau is an incredible palace that, unfortunately, gets overshadowed by Versailles. Fontainebleau is not as elaborate as Versailles, but well worth the time. This was the home of French royalty and later Napoleon Bonaparte. History...More

Fontainebleau went way above our expectations. It is beautiful and very quiet allowing you to become fully imersed in the experience. One of the best Châteaus I have visited. The gardens were quality as good and explore. I cannot recommend highly enough. Also the Galerie...More

Very ornate chateau steeped in history. Many original tapestries. Found some of the rooms very dimly lit, but I understand why. The ballroom was under construction, so unfortunately we could not see it. The crowds were significantly less than at other chateaux.

Fascinating tour of the massive house, well worth the entry fee. A seemingly endless parade of history, with superb decorative features and furniture. Would only be improved by having more multi-lingual signs in the displays.. Certainly a fascinating insight into how Napoleon and his supporters...More

Not to be missed! It takes a whole day to visit the castle and grounds, don‘t add additional time as the village itself is small and nice, but only interesting for a coffee or a meal after the visit. From the station Fontainebleau Avon take...More

The Fontainebleau domain is truly mesmerizing, surrounded by fountains and green spaces, where you can have a picnic, enjoy the nature and play games. The castle itself is stunning, it gives you that feeling of a classical French architecture masterpiece and unlike Versailles, there are...More

Laurie, we were there in early May and did notice some renovations but it seemed that they were trying to keep the area open to tourists as much as possible. We did not feel that we missed anything important. The inside... More
