... in houses like this. It give you a realistic idea how aristocrats or rich people around 1900 lived - and partly before this time. The story of the owners is heart breaking - and the gardens are just amazing: Do not miss the sun...More

Continuing our theme of visiting chateaus of the Loire we visited Villandry. It was 11 euros to get get in to the Chateau & gardens. The building itself is ok but nothing to write home about but the jewel are the gardens. We spent a...More

This should be on any gardeners bucket list of places to see. It is astounding. There is so much to see it would take too long to write it. There are lots of places to walk and sit in the shade when it gets too...More

Good formal gardens as I am sure you know from the pictures. Small play park and maze but younger children will probably still hate all the walking. The castle interior is much like many others. Good views over the garden, especially from the keep, but...More

The castle is very nice to visit and the gardens are exceptional! One of the most beautiful we had the opportunity to see in Touraine. Try to go there at the end of the day to enjoy the quiet park. We also had the opportunity...More

Although we had our dog with us we had researched the Chateau before visiting and were excited to see them. We weren't disappointed - they are beautiful.. I took photos but they don't do them justice. There are a lot of gardens to look round...More

Gorgeous gardens, formal layout. The floral area is vast and incorporates large segments of trimmed hedges. Self-guided tour is more than adequate and entrance includes a good map. This is all about the gardens, not the chateau itself. Well worth a visit.

Really lovely gardens, worth a visit. Did not go in the Chateau. The restaurant just outside serves great ice cream.

We have visited several Chateaux and found this one to be a delight. In some respects, it reminds me of an English stately home, with a blend of ‘the old’ and small intimate pieces of the current owners. Several rooms to visit and then a...More

Definitely visit in the morning as all the coach parties arrive in the afternoon and it gets very busy! Chateau needs about an hour and the gardens 2 hours to see it all nice and leisurely.

It's less than half an hour from Tours to Villandry by car/taxi. There is ample new parking within walking distance (level) to the chateau. There are lots of stairs within the chateau itself, but the admission is worth it... More
