Located at the heart of the old town not really old building but gives emphasis on it’s structural design that gives an impact of vastness and beauty.

Located by Place Chateauneuf in the old town, this is a beautiful historical monument. From sites all over tours you can locate it by its magnificent tower topped with the gold Saint Martin statue. St.Martin is a figure that is part of the foundation of...More

This beautiful church is not so old as most you find in Europe. What is interesting about this church, however, is that you can go downstairs to the crypt to see some of the bones of Saint Martin. This can be a very moving experience...More

An interesting but not very memorable building. Worth a brief visit if you are in the centre of Tours.

The basilica of Saint Martin, who lived in the 4th century, and whose relics are contained in a crypt inside the church, is just amazing. The church was designed by the same architect, Victor Laloux, as the Tours' train station. If you are visiting the...More

The Basilica is somewhat austere inside, not as ornate as many others in France, but it has an interesting history and is worthwhile to visit. The exterior is impressive and well preserved. It can be reached quite easily on foot from the old town square.

Amazing architecture and a little history lesson. it hosts the tomb of Saint Martin (don;t forget to get down to the cellar to see it). Auxiliary tower next to church allows you to see beautiful views of the city

Tours just kept brining more and more amazing architecture and beautiful churches. This church gives such an insite to St Martin, his crypt is so tranquil and in a way comforting... We really enjoyed our visit and felt humbled by the experience.

The current building has been constructed between 1886 and 1902 by the architect Victor Laloux in a neo-byzantin style. The crypt contains the Saint Martin von Tours and its known since centuries. The former Basilica was destroyed and in form of different colored paving stones...More

The basilique is huge and very imposing against the rest of the street-scape. Then you read the information boards and you realise that it is only about 15 % of what it used to be.
