The basilica of Saint Martin, who lived in the 4th century, and whose relics are contained in a crypt inside the church, is just amazing. The church was designed by the same architect, Victor Laloux, as the Tours' train station. If you are visiting the...More

The Basilica is somewhat austere inside, not as ornate as many others in France, but it has an interesting history and is worthwhile to visit. The exterior is impressive and well preserved. It can be reached quite easily on foot from the old town square.

Amazing architecture and a little history lesson. it hosts the tomb of Saint Martin (don;t forget to get down to the cellar to see it). Auxiliary tower next to church allows you to see beautiful views of the city

Tours just kept brining more and more amazing architecture and beautiful churches. This church gives such an insite to St Martin, his crypt is so tranquil and in a way comforting... We really enjoyed our visit and felt humbled by the experience.

The basilique is huge and very imposing against the rest of the street-scape. Then you read the information boards and you realise that it is only about 15 % of what it used to be.

A very fine Church, fabulous architecture, stained glass and statues. We were lucky to be able to listen to some male Russian singers, absolutely amazing.

It was a wonderful atmosphere, warm and intimate. The Benedictine nuns chanting and the congregations answering was subllime. I particularly loved that the singing was accommanied by a nun playing a table harp.

Nice actually very nice... but after seeing so many cathedrals all over the Loire Valley... the ones that are just good start to be less impressing and remarkable. In any case... Tours is a great place to visit so when there it is worth a...More

A lovey quiet place with so much history and beautiful windows. I understand where St. Martin of Tours came from now!
