The Chapelle Sainte Radegonde is about a 15 min walk out of the centre of town and is cave like built into the side of a hill. Quite interesting but check opening times if you wish to go inside.

We visited here accompanied by Auzelle, a very knowledgable local guide. The chapel is so interesting and full of history spanning the centuries. A must if you are visiting Chinon.

We were recommended to visit this by our hosts in the town. We walked initially to the town one evening, and then from the fortress in the daytime. You will need to check the opening hours (I think 3pm is when the afternoon times start)...More

The Chapel of Sainte Radegonde at Chinon is really an annexe to the much larger and even more beautiful chapel of the same name at Poitiers and well-worth looking up and visiting. The one at Chinon is set into the rock beneath the main chateau...More

We walked here from Chinon castle along a lovely flowery lane. Very hot and quite steep but really worth it. The chapel is half cave and half ruin. Its highlight is a fresco from the 12th century only discovered in the 1960s. It might be...More

Well worth a hilly (and in our case very wet) walk from Chinon centre --takes about 15/20 minutes. A wonderful old chapel built into the hillside with a wonderful, spooky atmosphere and deep old well --don't miss it if you are into things Gothic !...More

This is a ruined Romanesque church that is partly built in a cave. You can see the spring in the cave and some very interesting 12th century paintings on the walls of the church. To get to this church you need to walk up a...More

It took some doing to find this place. It's marked on a map we got in Chinon (their Discovery Tour). The road is clearly marked on the map, but eventually the road ends with a barrier. We hopped the barrier and kept walking for a...More
