The regeneration of this massive industrial building was clearly an enormous undertaking, but it has the feel of an expensive white elephant.
There’s the mandatory craft brewer, a book store, cinema, rock wall & cafe, and then plenty of empty space, including lots of tenancies that are empty & unused.
The majority of the space is used for kids on bikes, rollerblades, scooters & skateboards.
The highlight was the cable car over.

Empty warehouses that might be interesting if there were some boutiques, music, art and restaurants. Well there was one restaurant open and one boutique if I recall, but a huge empty space that needs some life. Certainly not worth the visit

Les atelier des Capucins is an old building that has been restored, of build up new on top of the old one. Brest is a city that has been destroyed by the WWII and rebuild. In here you will find beutiful arquitecture, a café, a zone of restaurants that are conected in a big room, some startups, a rock climbing wall company, a marine museus with a beautiful shop, some small shops, photo exhibitions, other marine exhibitions. Very large spaces where kids play, some with skates, small bikes or rollerskaters, It is a very nice place to go.

This is such a lovely place ! Great food and nice cocktails in the lounge bar, very lively gathering place with historical machines ... We fell in love with it.

A former convent and then a workshop for the shipbuilding navy, it is now a huge space for the people of Brest and many kids to try their luck at rollerblading, skating, dancing, or just walking around. It's got a bar/restaurant, shops, a library, a climbing wall... You can't miss it! Also why would you come all the way to Brest and not try the cable cars leading to les Capucins (only 2 euros)? That's madness!

There was a festival, but I didn't know what this festival for. Non-friendly festival for foreigners. Except that, everything was so so.

Ride the cable car over to it. It is still a “work in progress “ but it is an amazing space. Wonderful shops and objects of art, very forward thinking.

This old factory building is great as it still has some huge machinery in it. Brest is famous for having the first purpose made factory in Europe. The different area and sections of the building are taken up with various exhibits. On the day we visited there was an Antarctic exhibit of photographs.
There are a few cafes too. I think more could be made f the area really. It did seem a bit empty.

I loved this media center! It’s an amazing place to visit specially if you’re an expat or you’ve moved in recently.
There’s a lot of stuff you can do there:
First, tourism: there’s a lot of old machines that are kept intact and they’re put in a very artistic way.
Second: peace of mind: there’s a huge mediacenter where you can do absolutely anything and you can pick a comfortable couch and just relax next to the view
Thirds: books 😍😍😍 there’s a huge library where you can read about absolutely everything!
I highly recommend it!

The size and scale of this place is magnificent. I really like how it has been repurposed as an indoor leisure facility. Unfortunately when we visited the library was closed and there weren’t any of the food trucks we were told are usually there, but there were lots of families enjoying the space (kids enjoying running around and rollerblading/ skateboarding) and people working at the tables dotted around. It’s such a great idea to have a large open indoor space and it looked like there was lots of work going on to bring more of it back into use.
