Overview

This a place with a particular architecture. Inside you will find little shops with local producers. They sell some fresh products like fruits, vegetables, flowers, meats and fresh fishes. This is a moment of complicity with the local producers, and a moment of discovery for your papillaes. It's possible to take a glass and some pintxos between friends. The covered market is opened every day from 7 am till 1 pm every morning all year long. A food market takes place around the covered market on Tuesday morning and Friday morning all year long and on Saturdays mornings in July-August.

We visited this market on 26th December. 25th was off. This is probably a typical "French marche", but was fun for us to see local basque foods. We have missed this type of market in Japanese local cities. My spouse found "pruneau d'agen" stuffed with...More

Lovely place to visit for breakfast and to pick up some local produce. There are two very good cafes inside which we visited for breakfast. Very reasonable and very friendly. Lovely to just sit with a coffee and watch the market and shoppers.

In most reasonable sized towns in France they have Les Halles. St Jean de Luz was no exception. It is the place to go to buy all sorts of fresh local products. Fruit and veg, meat and fish and not to mention cheese. We arrived...More

Just an amazing place to visit for fresh produce. The fish look as if they have literally just jumped out of the ocean and as the market is next to the quay they probably have.

We visited on a Wednesday and around half of the stands were closed. The fish market was busy but there was not much variety of food items. A little disappointed.
