Originally the building was a military garnison. The pink sandstone house looks very good on the square. Inside Sophie Taeuber-Arp, Jean Arp and Theo Van Doesburg created this impressive gem of modern art and architecture. Open only afternoon!

Essentially a realisation of the Arps and of Theo Van Doesburg, in 1928. Strong references to De Stijl, the Dutch art movement that influenced Rietvelt and Mondriaan. Fabulous restoration of 4 spaces. Free admission. Highly recommended.

Jean Arp and his wife were influential figures in early 20th century art and design. L'Aubette is a fine example of their work encompassing architecture, furniture, and visual art. Moreover, it is a free attraction!

We visited L'Aubette 1928 to see the current art exhibition. The guard was very friendly and there were brochures in English explaining the modern art installations. Also of interest for the architecture and the rooms that have been restored to the art deco period.

I loved the cinema with its Art Noveau interior. I was transported by imagination to that time and how wonderful it must have been to watch films in that space. If you appreciate that style don't miss it.

It is true that this ancient, architecturally beautiful building is now a shopping gallery, but when you walk inside you can still enjoy some of its architecture. I found the little museum l’Aubette 1928 just around the corner quite interesting with its history of combining...More
