The gardens were especially lovely and very large with lots to explore, we were sadly a little early for the summer bedding but could see it planted up ready for a really gorgeous display (maybe best july/ august). All in all we enjoyed our visit

I tall depends on the children of course and how interested they are in history , we had a 16 yr old with us who loved it , if thinking of going have a look at when there are events going on which will interest them

we have English Heritage membership so we dont pay at attractions

there is a bus to the village and a short walk to the entrance of the grounds it would be easier to get a taxi as others have said if you are bothered about a walk.
