I wish I had read the reviews on trip adviser before booking. 😞 Flight cancelled due to weather and now I can't find any flights. Tbe web site means you have to search dozens of locations to establish there aren't any flights available. I have wasted so much time on this it's untrue and I'm no closer getting airborne as there aren't any flights on a weekend any where near and tbe voucher will probably expire before I can find one. Lesson learned.

Bought two full price Virgin Balloon Flight vouchers last April (2014) for my partners birthday and due to weather conditions dictating 4 cancellations we took our flight this morning, not from our original booking site but only half an hour away so still local. Calling the line at 11pm last night was no problem & up at 5am today was exciting as we were up with the lark doing something unusual.... We both thought we were a little afraid of heights but were totally blown away by the whole experience. I absolutely loved it & couldn't recommend it enough. Yes you get hands on helping to inflate & deflate at the end but that's all part of the fun...& no there's no door in the basket & you need to clamber in...that's part of the fun too! Our pilot Pete Philpot was brilliant...calm, funny & informative & his sidekick (Retrieval man) Andy was our very own Where's Wally following us almost 4000 ft below with his trailer. Our beautiful green & pleasant land is amazing from the peace & quiet up there. Impossible to explain how quiet it is and I could personally have stayed up there until the gas almost ran out! Our landing experience was fab....Pete was checking out various places to land but the slight wind obviously had other ideas - as we passed over a few rooftops a lady hanging out of her window asked if we going to land in her garden so Pete ordered 16 bacon sani's! We came down gently on a practice pitch of a golf course & after all having a giggle squashing the air out of the balloon we had a glass of fizz for brekky. Loved it...I would go again tomorrow & have no complaints whatsoever about the Virgin service. Wouldn't you rather suffer a few cancellations due to weather conditions so you're able to enjoy a clear & safe flight?!

In October 2012 my daughter treated us to 4 virgin balloon flights. We were delighted and excited. We booked our morning flight from mote park maidstone England. We were told to ring at 11pm the night before to confirm the flight as they may need to cancel due to adverse weather conditions. We had to ring a dedicated flight line number of 0844 576 7523. This is a premium number. Our first flight was cancelled. We were so disappointed particularly as we had taken a day off from work. We rebooked again at mote park maidstone. Again we had to go through the usual routine of phoning the dedicated flight line at 11pm the night before. This is a recorded message which we were told automatically changes at 11pm giving the weather forecast for the next morning and confirmation of the flight - or not in our case! Having called the premium rate number several times from 11pm as the recorded message was not automatically switched over, only to find out it was cancelled for the second time. I am sure anyone reading this will appreciate when having to get up at 5.30 am for the morning flight, it is essential to get at least a few hours sleep! Therefore having to continually redial a premium rate number at 11pm onwards is not the ideal!! However we rebooked for a third time. The whole scenario was repeated. We booked a fourth time, again the flight was cancelled. A fifth time. A sixth time. During this time we had requested a refund as it was costing a fortune in making premium rate phone calls and taking a day off work on each occasion! We were told virgin balloon flights only give refunds when they themselves cancel the flight seven times! We booked our seventh flight and yes you guessed it the cancelled once again. We were so very very disappointed but felt we had little alternative but to request a refund for our four tickets totalling £400. On requesting a refund we were told no refunds were available on Monday-Friday morning only flights!!! They said they could do nothing for us! Tomake matters even worse they advised we sell the tickets on ebay!! My recommendation would be NOT to buy virgin balloon flight vouchers for your friends and family. If you do go ahead and make a purchase make sure you read the small print. I would strongly advise that you be very careful in your anxiousness to get to bed at a reasonable hour that you do not ring the premium rate number too many times as you will find yourselves like me, with a large telephone bill. This whole experience has wasted two years of our lives, cost us a fortune on premium rate telephone calls and time off work. Shame on you Richard Branson
